Although I miss my classroom almost every day, I would never go back to a school site. I did teach high-risk, violent students for twelve years, and had my scary days with them, but escaped unscathed. I was also very relieved when my youngest daughter left middle school teaching for a County school administration job. Now I worry about my grandkids headed to school each day. It is never over. I trust you have peace with your decision, and having to go through such a tremendous loss while teaching had to be insanely difficult. I absolutely see why you needed to make an exit. I knew when it was my time to do so, as well.
