As an eight year old, I was sexually abused to the point of hospitalization, and yet no one ever asked me any questions about how this happened nor did I understand what I had been through until I analyzed the events when I reached my twenties. I still remain amazed that I was unsupported, blamed, ignored, and ostracized by my parents after the events came to light. We certainly have a long way to go in protecting children in our society.
