My husband, with me almost 30 years now, always says that I didn't so much "come out" of the closet, I blew the doors off. I still recall very vividly the morning I woke up and I didn't have to consciously decide who I was going to be that day. I did it all wrong, and at the wrong time, and in the worst way, and hurt people. But, in the end, it was the best and bravest thing I ever did, and life became better immediately, even with all of the debris I left around me.
