Sadly, we have watched Iowa go from a blue state to a very RED state since the last few elections. Although we live in a small "blue oasis" and have never encountered open homophobic responses to our relationship, we are painfully aware of active hate groups and repressive trans legislation currently ongoing. We do have a long ways to go.
