The introspection is good. I believe the answer is determined by what your end goal is on Medium. For me it is the engagement with other writers and improving my writing skills. The process has never been about the money, so I don't pay attention to the algorithm or other details. I write, and love reading other writers I discover, and set about a week to two-week pace on articles. I need the time for introspection, editing, and rewriting parts I don't care for. Just my look at the process.
