What is it you relate to the most about Graham as I've described him? The desire for progress to have moved faster? Or the fear and struggles of decades past?

My answer would be that you pinpointed both of my feelings exactly. I also lived in a time where being gay was illegal, and I could have been punished or "put away" in an asylum for being gay. I learned to live DEEP in the closet until my late thirties. My gay uncle died a few years ago, more of Graham's age, and he fit your descriptions of being gay during that time exactly. He died never having acknowledged his gay persona. I was so sad for him. Your story really stirred and touched me. I'll read more...
